About

Studio Member since 2012

b.1982

David Jonaitis is renowned for a friendly demeanor that is evident in his portraitures and vibrant use of color.

“I like to make portraits of people who are famous and people I know. Just people that I admire. I admire a lot of people like the staff here, celebrities and some artists who will remain nameless.”

When creating, Jonaitis will often build a tangle of words or motifs around his subjects, swaddling them in visual representations of their personality traits or personal histories. He approaches his work with great dedication and can spend weeks creating the world of a single, unforgettable drawing.

“I love everything about art. How we work, how we do things. I like working with new materials and interacting with other artists. Just being here, being with the artists and staff.”
