Debbie Vasquez (1969 – 2024) attended our Chicago Studio from 2002 – 2020.  A prolific artist with a strong sense of intent and command of her personal aesthetic, Vasquez built an astonishing and mesmerizing portfolio of work. Working with the simplest supplies – acrylic, torn out magazine pages, and various found materials – she created pieces that convey incredible depth and space. Within a single brush stroke, one can see rainbows of color, variations in texture, all seemingly effortless. In addition to family, Vasquez found inspiration through music and dancing. In May of 2017, she was named Artist of the Month.
