Job Type: Part-tIme
Position Purpose: This contract, part-time position is responsible for maintaining and further developing the functionality of Arts of Life’s website through design, programming, and archiving. The Web Developer is the primary person ensuring that Arts of Life’s site is up-to-date with the latest web accessibility standards and is promoting our cultural values.  

Time Commitment: 5–10 hours a month. This contract will be reviewed and renewed annually to meet the ongoing needs of both the contractor and Arts of Life. This position has a flexible schedule based on monthly priorities.  

Responsibilities
-Extend and customize WordPress functionality for both front and back end enhanced user experience
-Perform routine website plugin updates and necessary maintenance for proper functionality
-Develop and implement a robust and accessible image archive system
-Collaborate with staff to problem solve, develop, and assess the feasibility of new ideas
-Plan and implement development tasks necessary for the site’s continual growth and accessibility
-Manage and maintain  servers, hostings, security, and domain needs
-Streamline backend usability for staff interactions
-Maintain and implement data migration as needed
-Implement and educate staff on best practices to ensure the longevity of the entire site and its archive
-Attend and collaborate during monthly check-in meetings
-Oversee design consistency across the site

Requirements:
-Minimum of 2 years of professional WordPress development experience
-Strong HTML/CSS skills
-Strong project management and communication skills to create clear project plans, clearly articulate needs, provide benchmark updates, and meet deadlines
-Must reside in the Chicagoland area and be able to attend monthly meetings
-Flexible schedule
-UX and Design experience a plus
-Familiarity or interest in art, design, and the disability community a plus

Pay rate: $500 a month / $50hr
