Economies of Scale
Thursday, September 19, 12pm
What unique opportunities can small scale exhibition spaces provide artists and curators? What is lost, gained, or amplified when a practice scales up (or down) in the current market? Is this shift in scale a useful metric when placed into a digital feed? This talk, presented by the four directors of BARELY FAIR and Julius Caesar will be divided into six sets of ten minutes discussions that pair curators, artists, and gallerists working at a range of scales in both their personal and professional practices.
Participants include Josh Dihle (Julius Caesar, Barely Fair), Michelle Grabner (The Suburban, The Poor Farm), Tony Lewis (Julius Caesar, Barely Fair), Tim Mann (Prairie, Mickey), Roland Miller (Julius Caesar, Barely Fair), Raven Munsell (Richard Gray Gallery, Third Object, Trunk Show), Haynes Riley (Good Weather), Eric Ruschman (RUSCHMAN), Jack Schneider (Prairie, MCA), Kate Sierzputowski (Julius Caesar, Barely Fair), Vincent Uribe (LVL3, The Arts of Life).
Arts of Life is proud to be participating in the first year of BARELY FAIR with LVL3 gallery. BARELY FAIR is a miniature art fair hosted by Julius Caesar Gallery. The fair presents a tiny peek inside the programming of twenty-four local and international contemporary art galleries, project spaces, and curatorial projects during “Art Week” in Chicago. Included spaces will exhibit works in 1:12 scale booths built to mimic the design of a standard fair.
LVL3 will be exhibiting works by Chicago-based artists Roni Packer, Soo Shin and Arts of Life studio artist Susan Pasowicz.
