Van Go Go Breaks it Down at Evanston SPACE

It was to a sold out crowd at Evanston SPACE that Van Go Go performed their biggest show to date. After spending nearly a year and half of rigorously writing new material, and playing a few small shows, the band was pleased to hear the invitation to perform at the renowned venue on Sunday, June 22nd. The band played an extensive set including fan favorites such as “Monster Man,” “Get the Dinosaurs on the Phone,” and “Tennessee” which included a tasty medley of Janis Joplin’s classic hit “Piece of my Heart.”[[{“fid”:”6571″,”view_mode”:”default”,”fields”:{“format”:”default”,”field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]”:””,”field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]”:””},”type”:”media”,”attributes”:{“height”:366,”width”:652,”class”:”media-element file-default”}}]]Singer Nikole Heusman (right) was quite taken back by the experience. “It kind of blew my mind to play in front of an audience that size. We exceeded what we thought we could do.” [[{“fid”:”6572″,”view_mode”:”default”,”fields”:{“format”:”default”,”field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]”:””,”field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]”:””},”type”:”media”,”attributes”:{“height”:366,”width”:652,”class”:”media-element file-default”}}]]”It was a great audience,” said singer and dancer Danny Frownfelter (left). “There was clapping. I sang ‘Bad Girls.’ I break it down!”[[{“fid”:”6573″,”view_mode”:”default”,”fields”:{“format”:”default”,”field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]”:””,”field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]”:””},”type”:”media”,”attributes”:{“height”:366,”width”:652,”class”:”media-element file-default”}}]]Russell Copenharve (right) is excited that the performance was also recorded and will be released as the band’s first live album later this summer. [[{“fid”:”6574″,”view_mode”:”default”,”fields”:{“format”:”default”,”field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]”:””,”field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]”:””},”type”:”media”,”attributes”:{“height”:366,”width”:652,”class”:”media-element file-default”}}]]Concertgoer Barry Seigel said of the performance, “It wasn’t the kind of thing that was surprisingly good, it was REALLY good.” For up to date photos, videos, concert details, and more, be sure to visit Van Go Go on Facebook at www.facebook.com/vangogoband
