Artist's Statement

Paint...chalk pastels on it. The pastels on it are really good. I did that one easy. I draw it out good on the board. I’m going to sketch it. I draw a good one. It wasn’t easy to paint them. Shape, I did really good on them. Oh yeah! Color is good! Movement is a good one. That’s a really good job on that one—like Alice. I’m excited painting. I’m watching wrestling every night. I like to do them. I paint them. The big show!

Process Statement

Billy revels in the dark theatricality of professional wrestling. This interest evidences in the subversive quality of his of dark under-painting tempered by vibrantly hued details.The variations within his mark styles allude to the sureness and speed of his movement. Billy skillfully blends hues to actualize complex and innovative color schemes in his artwork, and multiple layers of paint are applied and exposed through a process of sanding. It is through this energetic making process that Billy’s natural exuberance reveals itself in his artwork.
