Each day at the studio, Daniel Frownfelter arrives before other artists and immediately gets to work. After greeting the staff who are already here, Frownfelter puts his lunch in the refrigerator, sets his things down next to his chair, and starts doing the work. From there, his creativity rarely stops. At lunch, Dan can be found working on a coloring book. In meetings, he is filling a sketchbook.
The Arts of Life Chicago Studio promotes peer curation through an ongoing Artist of the Month series. For the month of May, curatorial committee member Tim Stone (TS) selected Debbie Vazquez. Debbie’s work is characterized by bright colors, dense textures, and abstract forms.
Looking for meaningful paid summer work? Are you an artist with interest in advocacy, disability issues, or community? Are you between the ages of 16 and 19? The Arts of Life’s Chicago Studio is currently seeking applicants for four full time Summer Youth Employees (SYEs) who fit this criteria.
Consistently smiling, Antonio Granville graces the North Shore with light-hearted laughter, encouragement and a positive attitude! You can frequently find him working one to one with each artist, jumping in on Zumba or his favorite activity, “Photo-bombing” pictures!
North Shore studio artist, Evan Madsen, won the Historic Wagner Farm’s artwork contest for their 15th Dairy Breakfast and Stock Show! As a result, Evan’s “Cow on the Farm” painting will be printed on the staff and stock show event T-shirts!
To help us win, log into Facebook to vote. Visit http://woobox.com/6r7znj and select the VOTE option underneath The Arts of Life's logo and description. Each Facebook account is allowed one vote per day, so in traditional Chicago fashion - vote early and often! :)
