Field Trip to the Garfield Park Conservatory

While the temperatures drop outside, some of our Chicago studio artists took a field trip to the Garfield Park Conservatory to enjoy the warm air and plentiful plants. We started by doing a scavenger hunt that asked us to search for things like a pink plant (check) and a leaf that is bigger than your head (check). As we explored the conservatory, we discovered the Fern Room, the special Fire and Ice winter exhibit, and of course the Desert Room. Once in the Desert Room, we spent some time sketching our favorite cactuses. The artists loved the goldfish in the pond, seeing the fruiting trees, and discovering so many different kinds of plants!
