Jessica Dilay works methodically, considering color interactions by laying different hues of watercolor medium on a variety of substrates.
“I painted red and white for pink. I paint the flowers. I used red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.”
Dilay vacillates between abstract and representational with subject matter that ranges from human, botanics and shapes. Her paintings often feature isolated subjects over minimalist backgrounds. Pencil lines are covered with sheer layers of acrylic paint, hinting at the works’ understructure.
“I paint this. I painted the canvas. I’m peaceful.”
Jessica is also a member of North Shore studio’s curating committee. Her artwork was also featured on the Arts of Life’s 2019 agency calendar.
