On April 15th, 2011 the Kinzie Corridor Art Gallery at Arts of Life Chicago will be hosting an opening night event to kick off the Spring 2011 exhibition. The Kinzie Corridor Art Gallery serves as the central hub in this up and coming industrial and artistic area, just a few doors west of Damen Ave.
The show will feature two local artists, Justin Santora and Bobby Verran. Santora is a studio artist, freelance illustrator and screen printer drawn to the concept and process of constructing something from the ground up. “This work is largely about making something of one’s own, whatever that something happens to be.” In contrast to print, Verran specializes in paint medium. His work is about the application of paint with a brush, covering something with a color repeatedly to slowly build a surface, adding more and more each day. Verran is part of the artistic community, The Arts of Life, and has been a contributing member for 10 years.
The event will showcase a collaborative piece from Santora and Verran. Santora elected to work with Verran on the show’s centerpiece, as Verran’s work was “especially stunning” to Santora. In addition, each artist will display a collection of original work, available for purchase during the event. The event is open to the public and refreshments will be served, including pretzels from Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels and beer. There will also be a live concert featuring Cook County Collective. When: Friday, April 15, 2011, 6 pm to 9 pm Where: Kinzie Corridor Art Gallery (at Arts of Life) 2010 W. Carroll Avenue Chicago, Il 60612 Kinzie Corridor site.
