MARCH 4 | Corporate Collecting

What is the experience of an art gallerist working with firms, corporations, and artists? Learn the ins and outs of different types of collecting through this conversation with Jaime DeGroot, owner and principal at DeGroot Fine Art, and Andrew Rafacz, owner of Andrew Rafacz Gallery. This conversation is moderated by Arts of Life committee member, artist, and owner of RUSCHMAN, Eric Ruschman. View the recording.
APRIL 1 | Displaying Your Collection/Living with Art
Art and interior design meet with this masterclass moderated by Aspect/Ratio Director and MCA Chicago Executive Board Member Jennifer Armetta. Learn from artist Sharon Louden and collector Joe Reece about how they live with art. What does the placement of your art pieces within your home say about you? How can a piece enhance or punctuate the feeling of a room? What happens if you run out of space? View the recording.
MAY 6 | Collecting NOW
Over the past year, we have all observed sociopolitical upheavals and economic fallout. With the closure of public spaces, art venues, art fairs, and international borders, the art ecosystem has had to question the status quo. Equity, parity, diversity, morality, and social responsibility have become more relevant than ever. This leaves us asking ourselves, “who should we support?”. Art collecting can be understood as a practice with social impact and the capacity to change collective thought, and is not solely the acquisition of beautiful objects to steward and display. Join collector Bene Badia Nordenstahl as she moderates a conversation with Kibum Kim, of the Commonwealth and Council Gallery and curator Marina Reyes Franco as they dive into the challenges and highlights of acquiring new works in our new “woke” world.
