Meet a North Shore Artist: Oly Trindl

Oly Trindl joined out studio in mid-March. Armed with charisma and congeniality she is integrating easily into our community. Oly is someone who appears to perpetually be in a good mood, meeting difficult situations with humor and grace.“She is very empathetic, can read other’s emotions well and identify with them which is a lovely addition to our community.”– Grace Guillebeau, North Shore Volunteer Coordinator.            Combining her imagination and photographs off of her phone, Oly produces paintings that are rich, velvety rings of color. Oly’s style is reminiscent of former North Shore artist Montel Payne who took images of people and places dear to him and transformed them into dynamic pieces filled with color and movement.  She is someone who frequently mixes wet paint on her canvas creating a composition filled with swirls and meandering strings of color.“Oly is a patient maker. Her choices appear quite deliberate and she is focused and engaged with art making when she is in the studio.” –Megan Harrigan, North Shore Arts Coordinator            Oly takes a multi-disciplinary approach to her arts practice. In addition to working at the studio she is also taking a course on Women and Creativity at Oakton Community College. A typical lecture course–focusing on reading, writing, and discussion–Oly said she enrolled because she wanted to try something new and challenging. Oly is currently working on her third piece in her time at the studio. Trindl is early on in her career and has many possibly directions open to her. Her work is unique, but it is difficult to connect her with artists throughout history because she is still forming her practice. Her multi-disciplinary approach is sure to strengthen her concept. Be sure to check back in the coming months and see where her journey leads!
