Oak Park Arts District Banner

We are so excited to announce that for the past 2 months Chicago artist Jean Wilson has been working on a huge new project! In April Jean found out she had been accepted as one of the 21 artists to paint original works of art on vinyl banners to line Harrison Street from Austin to Ridgeland Avenue.

This project was funded by the Oak Park Arts District. Jean has been working hard since then to paint her banner, each side depicting a powerful timber wolfs, one black and one brown. At 6 feet tall, this canvas may be the tallest surface Jean has ever painted. With the help of an overhead projector Jean first sketched out her wolves on transparency paper, and then transferred the images to the vinyl.

The banners will be revealed this Friday June 15th at the monthly Oak Park Arts District art walk. The banners are to stay on Harrison Street indefinitely, so make sure to look up the next time you’re on Harrison Street in Oak Park!
