Remembering Quinn Zenner

We are saddened by the news that a former North Shore Artist, Quinn Zenner, passed away on April 3, 2024. Having been in our community from 2011 – 2020, he was instrumental in developing the North Shore studio. Quinn was a lifelong artist and was constantly making work both at Arts of Life and at his home. Below is a message from his family.

Duke Quinn Zenner was born to Patsy Quinn and Jack Zenner on November 13, 1973, in Evanston, IL. Duke was preceded in death by his heavenly mother, Patsy Quinn.

He passed away peacefully on April 3 at the age of 50. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all those who supported him in living a joyful and fulfilling life.

Duke lived a life filled with passion and creativity. He was a true artist at heart, finding joy in painting, drawing, and writing poetry. He created Christmas cards with his own artwork and donated all the money he raised to the Sierra Club, which supports environmental conservation—a cause close to his heart.

Dancing to the rhythm of life was one of Duke’s greatest joys. A lover of rock and roll, tie-dye shirts, long hair, and the timeless tunes of The Beatles, he was a true free-spirited hippie at heart despite being born in a different era.

Proud of his Irish heritage, Duke held a deep appreciation for his roots, embracing traditions and enjoying the taste of Guinness. He especially enjoyed his trips to Ireland with his mother, listening to his Uncle Mick play the accordion, and having the “craic” with his aunts Margie, Norene, Cathy, and Uncle Patrick.

Duke will be fondly remembered for his big smile, laughter, and zest for life.

The family would like to thank the Adult Down Syndrome Center, Park Ridge Healthcare Center, Center for Independent Futures (CIF), and Arts for Life for supporting Duke in living his life to the fullest.

Rest in peace, Duke. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
