Welcome Summer Youth Employees
The Arts of Life, North Shore is excited to host three new studio assistants this summer in large thanks to the Leo S. Guthman Fund. In addition to the fund the Arts of Life received support from The Illinois Arts Council as well as the Chicago Community Trust! The Arts of Life was chosen as a SMART Growth participant with the Chicago Community Trust. The three year grant supports all of our organizational growth and funds the student youth employment program. The Fund has provided us with the opportunity to expose our community and mission to a young and impressionable audience.The Youth Employment Studio Assistant position is designed to offer meaningful employment and introduce youth employees to working in a creative environment as well as provide exposure to supporting artists who have intellectual disabilities. This position supports all aspects of The Arts of Life program including, but not limited to, supporting the artists’ creative practice, managing exhibitions & events, maintaining archives, and leading supplemental programming.Meet our crew:Jake Rosenberg will be a junior at Niles North High School in Skokie and is ecstatic to be a youth employee studio assistant for The Arts of Life! He is a part of the theatre department at school, enjoying working behind the scenes as well as acting. He will be joining the choir in the fall, hoping to be a part of the vocal jazz program. When he isn’t working fine arts related activities, Jake enjoys watching and analyzing movies, hoping one day to have a career in film. His hobbies include creative writing, reading, biking, taking walks and listening to music. Katie Yau is from Skokie, IL and will be a senior at Niles North High School. She is very excited to work at The Arts of Life. Her main artistic outlet is theatre at The Niles North Theatre department. Kati acts, directs and works with the costume crew. When she isn’t involved in theatre she is a part of cultural clubs and the feminist club at Niles North. Rachel Kaufman is a senior from Niles North High School in Skokie, Illinois. She has a profound love for the arts, but also enjoys social work and has years of experience working with those with disabilities. Rachel hopes to be able to pursue both passions in the future, and feels this job is a great opportunity for her to get experience in those fields.
